Meet Chilufya Mumba Mwelwa a ZNBC journalist born on 10th February 1983 in Lusaka, then later moved to mufulira where she did her primary and then later after a few years relocated to Kitwe with her family.
The beauty queen attented secondary school at St Theresa girls. As she was growing up, she wanted to pursue Pharmacy but was advised by her cousin to study journalism as it was in line with her personality. While in high school she was awarded as one of best Public speakers.
Shortly after high school, Chilufya enrolled at Evelyn hone college in 2005 and pursued a Diploma in journalism and public relations. She shared the same class with prominent media persons such as Katwishi Bwalya,Paul Shalala,Judy Ngulube and many others.While still at hone she worked for Hone FM and later joined QFM untill she graduated in 2007.
Just after her college Ms MUMBA married Mr Mwelwa and the two relocated to South Africa where she attained a bachelor’s Degree in Public admistration and communication.
Chilufya’s two sons were born during her stay in S.A, after living in South Africa for a while she came back home to Zambia and started working for Muvi TV then she later joined ZNBC as a part time producer and was confirmed on full time in 2013 till date.
As a Christian at Miracle life family church , Chilufya serves God as a ‘greeter’ and she says her favorite bible verse that wakes her up everyday is Philippians 4 vs 13 ” i can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”.
Chilufya was a recipient of the 2015 MISA best Journalist awards and was given an advocacy certificate.
One of Chilufya’s life quotes is a quote by Eleanor Roosevelt which says ” No one can make you feel inferior without your consent”.
